I've been spending too much quality time with my riding lawn mower here lately even though lawn mowing is a needful chore.

We had a front force its way into town early this morning and I'm hurting and aching all over from it.
I'm just lucky that I got our front yard mowed yesterday evening! As it is, it may be a week before I'll be able to mow the lower parts of the front yard.

Personally, I've been spending too much quality time picking up, sorting out, bagging up, throwing away, etc old nursery pots etc. That area had become a dumping ground for that stuff. Amazingly, while there were numerous bags of trash, there is a metric ton of stuff that's still good.

I have not gone outside today. I did, however, just mix up a cake and put it in the oven, so my day is not a total waste.

I made up a wonderful cake this week too.
I added a package of pistachio pudding mix to the batter and a big bunch of blueberries.
It died young!

What happens in the lower parts of the front yard that you may need to wait a week before mowing the lower parts of the front yard?

We're having a "front" which has brought in tornadoes, so I'm about to sign off for the evening.

What happens is that that clay soil is so wet, that driving over it with the riding lawn mower leaves ruts--often deep ones that will later need to be filled with more soil to make the surface even once more. Unfortunately for me, even though that soil is too saturated with water to mow, it still grows an excellent crop of grass and weeds!

And never a lawn care fairy or elf or gnome around when needed! And they can't be hired or fired....
Have you tried enticing or bribing or rewarding them with whatever tickles their fancies?

I saw a funny video on FB the other day (can't find it now, of course) where the woman handed over the kids to the husband, put her straw hat on, grabbed a cold drink and jumped on the ride-on mower, with some statement like "he always made it sound like a CHORE" but obviously enjoying her alone time riding around in the sunshine with her iced drink and sunglasses.

I do remember mowing the lawn in the hot sun as a teen - we had a gas powered push mower and a pretty big yard. It was not particularly fun :D But maybe the ride-on mower would be more fun?

I actually rather enjoy mowing our yard with my riding lawn mower (Bumblebee). I get some of my best thinking done while mowing.
Kids should be handed over to Husbands fairly often. Any man that complains about having to "babysit" his own kids should be forced to turn in his family "jewels" so that he can't produce any more of them.

We have had non stop rain so mowing is a priority here, too.
